Over 100 people participated in this year's 2007 A Winter's Feast, a family program that includes a picnic in a shelter, songs and participant's personal stories about winter, and other fun activities from 3-6 pm in the Hollofield Area of Patapsco State Park in Pavilion 300. Hot drinks, hotdogs, hamburgers, potluck side dishes and desserts were served, and guitarist and local singer, Sam "Muleman" Miller provided music. Participants roasted marshmellows on an open fire, played table games (just like we did back in the 50's, 60's and 70's -- no batteries) and we had a visit from some furry animal friends. The adventurous took a short guided hike down to the Patapsco River. Boy Scout Troop 432 from Elkridge donated and cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for us and gave us demonstrations on proper flag folding and how to tie some popular knots! Aren't you sorry you missed it????!!!

We cleaned up several tons of trash at the south end of Hollins Ferry Road at a section of Patapsco State Park. We had volunteers from UMBC, residents from Charlestown Retirement community, St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, scouts, and nearby residents and other environmentalists that just wanted to give a helping hand!

On Sunday, November 19, the Friends of the Patapsco Valley & Heritage Greenway partnered with M.O.R.E., a local mountain bike organization, to help find additional volunteers to assist them with trail maintenance at Patapsco State Park.

Stream cleanup conducted along the Tiber Hudson stream, under the bridge of Tiber Park, in historic Ellicott City, and the parking lot near the post office off Main Street.

Friday afternoon, November 3, 2006, stream cleanup along the Patapsco River, in Oella, just off Oella Avenue near the river trail. This cleanup was requested as part of a joint project with Ken McNaughton, Ellicott City neighbor, who regularly cleanups up this trail.
